Pythagoras, the mystical mathematician, refined and built
upon earlier understandings regarding the quality of
vibration inherent in the nine numbers we ordinarily use
simply for counting things.
Each number - one through nine - carries a vibration that
has a certain meaning relating to the nature of the
universe, and the nature of being in terms of the human
expression. The sequence of the numbers follows a
progression akin to growth, i.e. the development of an
All these number/energies can be seen as carrying cosmic
power into the manifest world. Each of us comes into the
world on the wave of one of these energy/numbers. The day we
are born represents a particular moment in cosmic terms, a
particular and precise placement of the individual and our
planet in the energetic field of manifestation. And thus, as
in the science of Astrology, the individual has an energy
signature, so to speak. And this energy signature represents
the predominate manner in which an individual will be
expressing during the life of the person.
Since there are only nine numbers out of which we express
our birth-given creative energy, one might assume there are
only nine human types running around on the planet. But this
is not the case; for it is in our names where we find clues
to our personality structures and our soul purposes.
The art and science of numerology makes use of the letters
in our names to pin point the subtleties of our individual
vibration frequencies. Each letter of the alphabet is
assigned a corresponding vibration.
By converting the letters to numbers, we can begin to build
a picture of an individual's mind-body-spirit profile. At
this point, the Doubting Thomas in you might be questioning
how one's name can provide so-called cosmic information
[that is information coming from the Cosmic Mind of All
Knowing] regarding an individual's mind-body-spirit profile.
Whereas one's time of birth may seem less arbitrary, and
thus understandable as something fated or destined, one's
name, usually given by parents, seems to be rather somewhat
arbitrary, or at least under the direct influence of the
parents rather than a formulation having come from some
higher source, such as one's Soul.
Numerology responds to this kind of questioning in various
1. In most cases, parents generally consider it quite a
serious matter when it comes to giving their child its name.
They ponder deeply, listen to inner promptings, their
dreams. They will consult other family members. Even when
there is a desire to name the coming child after an older or
deceased family member, the parents take into consideration
many subtle thoughts and feelings. Even if the name giving
comes out of some spontaneous inclination, such as naming
the child after a favorite singer or movie star, or even a
president of the country, or famous historical figure, such
promptings, when looked into deeply, usually indicate an
amount of intuitive activity happening within the psyche of
the parent or parents. Therefore, it can be said that the
name giving activity strives to impart in the new life a
sense of its role in life or of its destiny.
2. In esoteric terms, it is said that the souls of the
parents and the soul of the newborn, along with guides and
teachers, have already formulated their life plans in the
in-between stage, or life dimension of their soul
existences. Thus the child's name along with the energy
patterns the name represents has already been established
before any of the souls involved have entered their physical
3. And finally, one must consider the fact that a name, when
spoken, carries an energy vibration in its most subtle form.
And this sound imparts a subtle, intuitively understood
message. The child, from infancy on, hears this vibratory
message constantly. The parents murmur the name over and
over. Eventually that energy pattern becomes imprinted into
the child's sub-conscious mind. The parents have chosen the
name as a consequence of deep intuitive urgings, no matter
how superficial or flippant that choice may seem on the
surface of things. The soul of the child has already made
agreements with the souls of the parents, along with the
help of spirit guides and teachers. The child is prepared to
receive the subtle vibratory message that comes across when
hearing its name spoken. And thus, the sub-conscious mind of
the individual from childhood on is developing a hidden
sense of the cosmic message for its Life Purpose, its Life's
Goals - the reasons for its coming into the physical plane
to express and learn and grow in a certain and precise way
for the benefit of its Soul's Growth and Healing.
Astrology, medicine, astronomy
There was a time when astrology was an accepted science
and was a part of medical diagnoses, as much as were a
patient's physical symptoms. It's hard to say whether
we've e-volved or de-volved, as we no longer think about
living in harmony with cosmos. We consider ourselves
too advanced scientifically to think that movements
in the stars and planets might have a serious impact
on our daily lives and our health.
But are we right. Who is anyone to say that man, with his
limited brain, can truly comprehend the workings of the
universe, or how he fits within it. Western civilization
is predicated on conquering, not understanding. But it
wasn't always so.
Astrology is one of the most important historical contexts
in which astronomy developed. The Babylonians carefully
assembled tablets of the position of Venus, as it was
believed to denote omens for weather, war, famine,
diseases, rulers and kingdoms. Claudius Ptolemy
composed the Tetrabiblos, believing that astrology
could be placed on a rational footing, despite being
a conjectural art like medicine. In practice, belief
in astrology meant that horoscopes were cast for
new-born children, prospective spouses and political
enemies, public buildings were opened and marriage
and other ceremonies conducted on auspicious days.
Numerous records of astrological practice can be
found from the Roman times and physicians routinely
consulted astrological charts as part of the diagnostic
For instance, every sign of the zodiac was considered to rule a part of the
human body: the Sagittarius ruled the thighs, Pisces the feet, and so on.
When the moon was in the zodiac ruling a particular part of the body,
bloodletting from that part was to be avoided, since the attraction of
the moon might cause excessive bleeding. Numerous medical manuscripts
and almanacs include the figure of the 'zodiac man' as a reminder of
the specific influence of the moon. In addition, the power of the
moon's pulling power varied by its phases, and thus almanacs usually
showed the phases of the moon.
The stars can provide much insight about ourselves, including how, when,
and with whom we are most likely to fall in love. Of course, astrology
is not destiny, so while the one you love may not be a classic match for
you in astrological terms, that doesn't mean all is lost. By understanding
the universal forces that attract you to your lover, you can learn how to
make any relationship work, and better understand your own self in the process.
First consider how accurate your own horoscope is. There are similarities among many
of them, but find the resource that best describes YOU. Then use that same resource
to do a little research on your beloved. You certainly don't have to reject someone
because he's a Water sign and you're a Fire sign. But, it can certainly provide
some insight into why you two clash, or why you think he's a wet blanket sometimes.
You can really go into detail about the ideal zodiac mate for you, but it's hard enough
to find someone, isn't it. So don't walk away from that Water or Earth guy. Use your knowledge
to understand him. Maybe you need to borrow some tips from Air or Earth to help manage the
communications between the two of you or to help resolve conflicts.
There are many really good books and Web sites to help you figure out the details of your
zodiac match. Do a little research. And make it fun! What's your sign can be a cliché, but
if you deliver the line in the right way, it can also be a good ice breaker. If you're a
Virgo, and you're introduced to, say, a Libra, tell him he's got his work cut out for him.
Everyone loves a challenge and it's an easy way to flirt and start to get to know someone.
Elements in astrology By: John Ugoshowa
Groups of signs in astrology share certain characteristics that are classified according to four
earthly elements - fire, air, water and earth. It helps explain why some signs are more compatible
The Fire signs are Aries (March 21 to April 19), Leo (July 23 to August 22) and Sagittarius
(November 22 - December 21). Fire people are leaders, dynamic. They light up everything around
them. Because Fire needs Air to exist, Fire signs are most compatible with the Air signs.
Water is anathema to Fire and a Water person could try to dampen the dynamism and enthusiasm
that defines Fire.
The Air signs are Aquarius (January 20 to February 18), Gemini (May 21 to June 21) and Libra
(September 23 - October 22). These are the idea signs, the air that breathes a spark into a
flame. They can't be tied down. They require freedom of movement and thought.
The water signs of Cancer (June 22 to July22), Scorpio (October 23 to November 21) and Pisces
(February 19 to March 20) are characterized by the phrase still waters run deep. They're
emotional and sensitive, given to deep thoughts and conversations. Just as water can blur
an image or hide secrets within its depths, so do Water signs have secretive emotions and
abilities. The Water signs are most compatible with Earth signs.
The Earth signs are Taurus (April 20 - May 20), Virgo (August 23 to September 22) and Capricorn
(December 22 to January 19). They are stable and consistent. While not as compassionate as the
water signs, they are nonetheless nurturing. They can be rigid (stick in the mud) and easily stuck
in routines. They are most compatible with Water signs, as Water is necessary for the Earth to
properly nurture growing things. Earth helps Water contain itself, which is often necessary for
survival on the planet.
What's your astrological sign. Everyone knows what his or her sign is. Even if you're not a believer
that the position of the planets at the exact time of your birth is an indicator of your personality
and can determine events that happen to your throughout your lifetime, you've certainly met someone
who does believe. At the very least, it's harmless club conversation, a way to get to know someone.
But is there something to it. Are horoscopes just hocus pocus. Or do they truly predict the course
of events in your life.
Astrology is one of the earliest sciences known to human history. There are astrological records that
originated in Babylon in 1645 BCE. Other cultures, such as Egyptian and Greek developed timekeeping
and calendar methodologies. From the time man began to observe and track the world around him, he's
also contemplated his own relationship to the earth, stars, planets and elements around him. Astrology
may have one way that earliest civilizations helped define their place in the cosmos. They perceived
it as being greater than themselves; not something to be conquered, but to be understood.
While in modern times astrology is seen as new age and not as credible as sciences like astrophysics or
chemistry, at one time it was as credible a science as any other. Astronomers like Galileo and Copernicus
were also practicing astrologers. With the evolution of more quantitative sciences, astrology's influence
and position began to diminish. It enjoyed a resurgence in the 1930's with the birth of England's Princess
Margaret. The London Sunday-Express ran her astrological profile, and that event was the origin of the
modern daily horoscope in the newspapers.
Everyone who's read a really good astrological profile of himself has to admit there are some uncanny coincidences.
Can we really pretend we're so knowledgeable of the universe that we can reject the discipline of astrology. Maybe
Shakespeare had something there when he wrote in Hamlet, *There are more things on heaven and earth Horatio than
are dreamt of in your philosophy.*
Astrology Signs and Planets Reveal Who You Are
Even though astrology may not be a part of your world, there is solid proof that it can be a great resource for finding
out who you are? Of course, if you are like most people, you probably think of astrology as a fun game and should not
be taken any more seriously than the contents of a fortune cookie. But people are starting to take a new look at astrology.
The well-known astronomer/astrophysicist, Dr. Percy Seymour of Plymouth University, wrote in his book "The Scientific
Basis of Astrology," that "The resulting fluctuations of earth's field are picked up by the nervous system of the fetus,
which acts like an antenna, and these synchronize the internal biological clocks of the fetus which control the moment
of birth. The tuning of the fetal magnetic antenna is carried on by the genes which it inherits, and these to some
extent will determine its basic genetically inherited personality characteristics. Thus the positions of the planets at
birth are not altering what we have inherited genetically but are labeling our basic inherited personality characteristics.
"If a renowned scientist is confirming what astrologers have been saying for thousands of years, it is time for us to
take notice and take advantage of the marvelous resources that an astrological birth chart can reveal for you. No
longer can we condemn astrology as superstition, because it has been proven that the zodiacal position of the planets
and signs at the time we were born actually reveal who we really are. You can actually confirm this for yourself
with a little investigation. The astrological birth chart can reveal your life purpose, the lessons that you need to
learn, your unique gifts, talents, relationships to other people, and your psycho-sexual profile.Astrology can show
your sexual likes and dislikes. These preferences are revealed by the position of your Venus and Mars at he time
you were born. A skilled astrologer can describe these desires quite clearly and help you understand them. He
can also help you understand your sexual relationship to another person. Can you imagine the value of having
such information at your fingertips. If you wish to determine whether or not you are sexually compatible with
your partner or a possible mate, you would first need to locate the sign positions of Venus and Mars (e.g., my
Venus is in Gemini and my Mars is in Aquarius) at the time and place of your birth. Then you would need to
learn how these planets function in those signs and how they relate to the sexual energy of the other person.
You can find more information about this at this location. You can also get free astrology lessons here if
you would like to start learning how astrology works. Now is the time to bring our minds to the exploration
Zodiacs Signs: How they reflect your personality
Zodiacs helps us, to some extent, figure out this. Sun signs & moon signs are age old practices and over the
time it has gained a faith. The term zodiac (from Greek zodiakos) denotes several places where a circle of
twelve animals occur. Indo-European cultures developed a zodiac of twelve signs associated with a yearly
cycle and with constellations of stars that lie along the apparent path of the Sun across the heavens. The
12 sings are divided among four prime elements of nature. Like as, Fire- Aries, Leo, Sagittarius; Earth-Taurus,
Virgo Capricorn; Air-Gemini, Libra, Aquarius, Water- Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces.
According to astrology, these twelve zodiac signs again occupy some specific areas in the twelve months. According
to this, one's zodiac sign can be decided upon. Like Aries occupies 21st march to 20th April. Now if a person is
born between 21st March and 20th April then he or she will have Aries as the personal zodiac sign! Like wise, Taurus
(21 April-21 May), Gemini(22 May-22 June), Cancer(23 June-23 July), Leo(24 July-23 August), Virgo(24 August-23 September),
Libra(24 September-23 October), Scorpio(24 October-22 November), Sagittarius(23 November-22 December),
Capricorn(23 December-19 January), Aquarius(20 January-19 February), Pisces(20 February-20 March) each and
every signs have its own span.
These Zodiac signs signify some characteristics about the person. Like Leo is a vigorous sign and it signifies
valor and power. Generally a Leo is very dominating and loves to overpower a situation. Librans are known for
their diplomacy and capability for judgment. Fundamentally, Aries' is the typical initiator, the one who gets
things started. Arians sets out for personal achievements. Taurus, more than any other signs love to enjoy
their lives to the fullest. The Gemini people are said to be doing the work of the nervous system to human
race. Cancer is, more than any other, the sign of home and family. Cancerians are viewed as extremely homely
people. Virgo takes in substance and discriminates between what is useful and what isn't, and works with
it so that it may be more useful still, and thus be of service to humanity. Having the Sun in Scorpio,
one's task is to learn to be at ease with feeling what goes on beneath the surface of life.
Sagittarius witnesses to the importance of deriving meaning from experience. It is a fire sign and like any
other fire sign, it needs the freedom for movement. Capricorn witnesses to the importance of the social
order in which one lives, its proper functioning, and the personal fulfillment which can be found through
finding one's true place within it. An Aquarian shows to live within society without being bound by it
in such a way as not to stifle human creative activity. Pisces performs the difficult task of straddling
this divide - between the human and the divine. More than any other sign, perhaps, Pisces experiences
normal human life as limited, for it excludes so much that can make life more complete. Thus a zodiac
sign helps to understand the personality of different people. And this is interlinked with our birthdays.
This is the reason why knowing one's birth date is so important to judge the nature of the person. Knowing
someone's zodiac sign can give you an edge over the other person. And it also makes your wish better if you
can remember and mention the zodiac sign along with your special birthday wish! This makes the person feel
special in other way. Sending zodiac birthday cards are ideal to make people feel special.
Do you Believe in Astrology?
Do you Believe in Astrology? Astrology has been with us since our earliest known history. The concept
of astrology, which is that life is affected by the heavens, is rooted in mankind's desire to understand
the universe. New life in the spring and decline in autumn are clearly related to the positioning of
the sun, so it would be conceivable that other heavenly bodies had their influence on us as well. Many
of the planets are visible to the naked eye. Stars form patterns that move about the sky in a regular
formation. Back in the beginning of time, early men would watch the heavenly bodies in their movements
and speculate at what it might all mean, and so began the study of astrology! There are different ways
that astrology is believed to affect us. It is thought that the twelve signs of the Zodiac are tied
to twelve different parts of the body, and treatment for medical problem can therefore be aided through
the knowledge of astronomy. One of the most widely held beliefs in astronomy is that the position of
the stars at the time of a child's birth will influence the child's life. Fortune or misfortune, wealth
or poverty, are linked to the stars the person is born under. We live in a modern age, when few people
are troubled by superstitions, and while they may or may not believe in astrology, the average person
knows their "sign". People check their daily horoscope in the newspaper, keeping astrology a regular
influence in their life.
